Lent Day 11 – His Ways

by gary-foote on March 15, 2014

“Today you are making this agreement with the LORD: he is to be your God and you are to walk in his ways and observe his statutes, commandments and decrees, and to hearken to his voice. And today the LORD is making this agreement with you: you are to be a people peculiarly his own, as he promised you; and provided you keep all his commandments, he will then raise you high in praise and renown and glory above all other nations he has made, and you will be a people sacred to the LORD, your God, as he promised.” – Deuteronomy 26:17-19

Our God is a God of faithful promises. He reveals to us very simply what He wants to give to us.  He is also very clear in what He in turn expects from us, as any good father would be. God calls out to each of us to be in a relationship of give and receive. He yearns for us to give Him permission to radically work within our lives and receive countless graces and blessings from Him. He also asks of us to give our trust to Him by “walking in his ways and observing his statues,” so that He might fully receive us unto Himself. God has given to us explicit instructions for this life, how will you respond?

This is one of my favorite skits that shows the battle that we continue to go through with our will vs God’s will. Whenever I see this skit, I always ask myself, “God, will you please give me the strength I need to allow you to chisel my life and form me into your masterpiece so I may walk in your ways?” His continual answer, “Yes!”  Hope you enjoy it during this Lenten season:
