Lent Day 14 – White As Snow

by gary-foote on March 18, 2014

Come now, let us set things right, says the LORD: Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow; Though they be crimson red, they may become white as wool. If you are willing, and obey, you shall eat the good things of the land; But if you refuse and resist, the sword shall consume you: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken! – Isaiah 1:18-19

God’s infinite goodness and mercy are utterly amazing. Often times in life when we recognize something that needs to be changed it takes an extreme amount of time, effort, and energy before any changes take place. If someone is overweight, he or she will have to commit to life style changes of exercise and proper eating to loose weight, with results that will not be seen until weeks and months down the line. If trust is broken between people it may take months or years of continuous actions, sacrifice, and good decisions to build it back up. But, when it comes to God’s mercy and forgiveness it’s instantaneous. Even though the sin on our soul may be scarlet or crimson red, God can immediately transform us to be white as snow or wool if we ask Him. One great gift that He gives to us to experience this transformation is through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

May our prayer together this Lent be one in which we are willing and obey so that we too can be made anew.
