Day 2 – Unbalanced

by gary-foote on March 6, 2014

“I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants might live.” – Deuteronomy 30:19

One of the gifts of Lent is the gift of perspective. Starting with Ash Wednesday, we are reminded through the ashes on our forehead and the words spoken to us that we are dust and to dust we shall return. On this second day of Lent, as you look at the balance of your life are you choosing to fill your scale with things that bring life or death, blessing or curse? Lent is a time to tip the scale towards life by adding to our body, mind, and soul that which will lead us closer to God while at the same time taking away that which lead us away from God and to death. When it comes to life and death, we don’t want balance! We are designed by God to be “off the charts” with life as we weigh in. As you step back during this season of Lent, what do you need to both add and take away in order to arrive at Easter Sunday completed unbalanced towards life?
